“I’m proud of you, my land”

On April 26, 2024, the rural library of Akan Kurmanov held an hour of local history knowledge, “I’m proud of you, my land,” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the development of virgin and fallow lands.
Goal: to reveal the concept of virgin soil, virgin land. To foster patriotism and respect for the country, as well as to instill a caring attitude towards bread.
The librarian spoke about the history of the development of virgin lands and the significance of this event for the post-war country. Readers learned about the hard work of the first virgin lands, about the equipment that worked in the fields at that time, about the life and problems that the settlers faced. We heard the names of those first people who plowed the expanses of the fields — these are V.S. Lysenko, V.I. Mendrukh, I.G. Likhobaba, V.A. Kiselman. It is important for the younger generation to remember that it was these people who laid the foundation for the life of our village. Guest Shiryaev S.A. Poems about virgin lands were read. There was and cannot be any doubt that the history of the development of virgin lands will forever remain inscribed in the glorious chronicle of the labor asceticism of the Soviet people and Kazakhstanis. Readers learned about this and much more.
A book exhibition “70 years of Virgin Lands” was organized in the library; literature, newspaper articles and albums on the presented topics were presented at the exhibition.
