“Immortality of the Akyn”

The library, on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the birth of Baluan Sholak, held a history hour “Immortality of the Akyn”.
The purpose of the event: to introduce readers to the biography of the national akyn, the famous wrestler Baluan Sholak.
The librarian told those present about the life story of the famous wrestler and musician Nurmagambet Baimyrzauly, who became famous among the people under the name Baluan Sholak.
He was given the nickname after a fight with a wolf, from which he emerged victorious, but lost several fingers on his hand.
He performed both his own and other composers’ songs. His works were included in the collections “1000 songs of the Kazakh people”, “500 Kazakh songs and kyuis”. Among his songs are “Dikildek”, “Ashily-Ayryk”, “Kokshetau”.
