“The Work of Berdibek Sokpakbayev”
On May 28, 2024, a literary hour “The Work of Berdibek Sokpakbayev” was held in the Sepeevskaya rural library for members of the women’s club “Aphrodite” under the campaign “One country, one book.” The purpose of the event: promoting the best works of national literature, preserving the spiritual heritage, introducing young people to it, spiritual and patriotic education of the younger generation, as well as increasing public interest in Russian literature.
Berdibek Sokpakbaev began his writing career with a collection of poems “Bulak” (“Spring”). It was published in 1950 and immediately found its readers. The writer’s next books — the story «Champion» was released in 1951, «In a distant village» (story, 1953), «My name is Kozha» (story, 1957), «Journey to Childhood» (story, 1960), «The Dead Are Not are coming back»? “Where are you, Gauhar?” (story, 1966) All works of Berdibek Sokpakbaev are based on the impressions of childhood and youth, often difficult, but at the same time bright, warm and light.
This is especially true for the story “Menin atym Kozha” (“My name is Kozha”). It was published by the Children’s Literature publishing house, and then from Russian it was translated into 68 languages of the world and published abroad. The adventures of a boy, who, due to his restless nature, ends up in funny, and sometimes not so funny stories, were very popular with readers, both young and old. Young readers recognized themselves in the hero and his friends, and the book reminded adults of their pioneer childhood.
