The Sage of the Great Steppe

On November 5, 2025, the Marinovskiy Rural Children’s Library hosted a portrait hour entitled «The Sage of the Great Steppe,» dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the birth of the great scientist, democratic educator, ethnographer, traveler, and folklorist Shokan Valikhanov.

During the event, the librarian spoke about the life of Shokan Valikhanov, his role in science and the development of Kazakh culture. The children were presented with books and illustrations reflecting his life.

The event broadened the children’s horizons and sparked an interest in science and history.
