«Pearl of the North»

On the 190th anniversary of the talented poet, singer and composer Birzhan sal Kozhagululy, a literary evening «Pearl of the North» was held in the Telmana rural library on 11.10.2024. To the sounds of music by Kazakh composers, the librarian introduced the guests to the biography of Birzhan Kozhagululy. Then they talked about his work. The librarian spoke about the poet’s poems, such as «Adasqaq», «Zhambas sipar», «Temirtas», «Gashygym» and read excerpts from them. She noted that more than 40 poems by Birzhan are currently known. Then they talked about the musical and poetic works of the singer and composer. After the librarian told about his songs «Zhaima shuak», «Laylim shyrak», «Aitbai», «Zhanbota», our guests were able to listen to these songs. It was also told about the song competition of Birzhan and the poetess Sara. All the works of Birzhan Kozhagulula, many of which M. Tolebaev used in the opera «Birzhan and Sara», are immortal national heritage and will live forever.
