«Natural gift and eternal labor»
01/02/2024 The Marinovskaya rural children’s library held a literary portrait «Natural gift and eternal labor» for the 90th anniversary of the birth of the people’s writer of Kazakhstan and playwright S. Zhunusov.
Saken Zhunusov was born on February 1, 1934 in the North Kazakhstan region, the village of Kyzyl-Tu. He began his creative activity during his student years. The writer’s first works were written for children.
Zhunusov’s first book was published in 1959, a collection of stories «Sonarda», the next collection «Grandmother and the Doctor» and the picture book «Whose Housing is Better» were published two years later. The novel «House in the Steppe», which attracted the attention of readers and was translated into Russian, was published in 1965. In 1967, based on S. Zhunusov’s play “Stronger than Death,” a play was staged at the Kazakh Academic Drama Theater named after M. Auezov. The writer was also involved in translation; he translated into Kazakh the works of such authors as S. Zweig, O. Gonchar, P. Fedorov, etc.
He was awarded the Order of Parasat.
The purpose of the event: to introduce the life and work of Saken Zhunusov, to awaken interest in reading the writer’s works.
