«His dombra sounded for the people»
On 03.05.2023, in the Sochi Village Library, as part of the events for the anniversary dates of art, an etude – biography «His dombra sounded for the people» was held, dedicated to the 205th anniversary of the birth of Kurmangazy Sagyrbayev. The purpose is to introduce readers to the work of the Kazakh composer–kuishi Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly and his kuys. The librarian told about the difficult life and fate of Kurmangazy, who from the age of 18 led a wandering life of a wandering kuishi and was an eyewitness to the popular uprising of the Kazakhs of the Bukreev Horde. He was persecuted for openly criticizing the rich. The survivor of the wanderings and insults of Kurmangazy creates cui «Alatau» and «Saryarka», reflecting the deep thoughts of the people about independence and freedom. Among his students and followers were Makhambet Utemisov, Dina Nurpeisova, Yergali Eszhanov and others. To date, 60 kuys of Kurmangazy have been preserved. The most outstanding works are «Mynazhat» and «Karatai».
