“Afghanistan – Our Memory”
On February 15, 2024, the Pokrovskaya Rural Library held a historical hour “Afghanistan – Our Memory,” dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
Goal: instilling patriotism, love for the Motherland, developing in students a sense of compassion, pride and respect for people who have been in hot spots.
The librarian told those present at the event about the pages of the history of the Afghan war, about the courage and bravery that Soviet soldiers showed. At the event, we remembered our fellow villagers, participants in the Afghan war — Yu.A. Matkova, I.S. Sakhnova, V.S. Pugach. They fulfilled their military duty in Afghanistan, like many thousands of internationalist soldiers.
The library hosted a book exhibition “The Afghan War, How It Was.” The exhibition presents documents reflecting the military past of those who fulfilled their duty to the end. Readers can get acquainted with the works of authors who witnessed that war, as well as documentary and artistic works.
