A Life Worthy of Eternity

On November 4, 2025, the Poltava Rural Library hosted an oral history session, «A Life Worthy of Eternity,» dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the life and work of the outstanding scientist, traveler, ethnographer, and educator Shokan Valikhanov.
During the event, the librarian spoke about the life of Shokan Valikhanov.
Sh. Valikhanov’s name is etched in the history of Kazakh culture and science. His works cover a wide range of topics, from ethnography and geography to the history and literature of the peoples of Central Asia. He was the first Kazakh to become a member of the Russian Geographical Society and left a significant mark on the development of national science.
The library hosted a book and thematic exhibition, «A Life Worthy of Eternity.»
