«Children should understand what they read»
On October 18, 2024, the Central District Children’s Library held a literary hour «Children should understand what they read», dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the writer Bayangali Alimzhanov. Bayangali Tokanovich Alimzhanov is a Soviet Kazakh poet, writer, playwright, akyn-improviser, zhyrshy and zhyrau. He is renowned as a famous storyteller, manaschi, satirist, critic and literary scholar. He achieved great heights as a director, screenwriter, film actor, journalist and documentary filmmaker. In addition, he is also known as a talented TV presenter, translator, children’s poet and writer, the author of more than 80 books. A collection of B. Alimzhanov’s works in 30 volumes has been published in Kazakhstan. He was awarded the titles of Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, Cavalier of the Order of Honor (Kazakhstan) (Order of «Kurmet») and the Order of «Dostuk» of Kyrgyzstan. The only storyteller of the Kyrgyz epic about the hero Manas in the world and Kazakhstan.
Throughout his life, the Honored Worker of Kazakhstan put all his efforts into the development and formation of the spiritual culture of Kazakhstan. The poet believes that through theater, cinema and poetry, it is possible to instill high moral qualities in the younger generation and guide them along the path of integrity, honesty and justice. Akyn paid special attention to the need to instill in modern youth a love of reading classic literature, since in their poems and stories one can find a source for spiritual development.
Bayangali Alimzhanov is a shining example for many, especially for the younger generation. At each meeting, he encourages young people to work hard to achieve their goals, respect their elders, love their homeland and lead a healthy lifestyle.
