«Margulan’s Legacy»
On 22/05/2024, the Marinovskaya rural children’s library conducted a personal dossier «Margulan’s Legacy» for the 120th anniversary of his birth.
Purpose: to acquaint readers with the life and work of Alkey Margulan.
Alkey Khakanovich Margulan, an outstanding Kazakh archaeologist and scientist, made a significant contribution to the study of stone sculptures in central Kazakhstan. A. Margulan organized the famous Central Kazakhstan archaeological expedition of 1946-1974. The expedition explored: a group of Bronze Age mounds Erkebulak (1955), Besoba (1966), ancient burials of Karabie I and II, Begazy and others. The expedition also discovered ancient cities in Zhetysu, Southern and Western Kazakhstan. He also collected the scientific and literary heritage of Sh. Ualikhanov (1957-1967). Under his leadership, the chosen ones (1958), as well as the 5-volume collected works of Sh. Ualikhanov (1961-1972), were published.
Laureate of the State Prize of Kazakhstan (1982), Knight of the Orders of Lenin and the Red Banner of Labor, awarded with medals.
